The University of Notre Dame men’s basketball team just capped off its 2015-16 season with a 24-12 record and an Elite 8 appearance in the NCAA Championship. While the team will celebrate its season at the annual ‘Evening With Notre Dame Basketball’ on April 11 in the Joyce Center, it is never too early to look ahead to next year’s schedule.

The field for the 2016 Legends Classic, held each November at the Barclays Center, has been announced. The Irish will join NCAA Championship participants Texas and Colorado, along with 2015-16 20-game winner Northwestern, to highlight the field which also will include Eastern Washington, Bryant, Louisiana Monroe and Seattle.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Saturday, April 2, 2017, at noon for the Championship Rounds of the 10th annual Legends Classic men’s basketball tournament, and may be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000 or through Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are also available at the American Express Box Office at Barclays Center.

Notre Dame, Texas, Colorado and Northwestern will host a pair of regional round games on their respective campuses before before facing off at the Barclay’s Center for the championship rounds Nov. 21-22, 2016. All the championship round games will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks. The full schedule of the tournament will be released at a future date.

The trip to the Barclays Center for the Legends Classic championship round next year will be the third appearance in the state-of-the-art arena for the Irish, and first of two visits scheduled for next season. Previously, Notre Dame has taken part in the 2012 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Barclays, as well as the NCAA First/Second Round games in March of 2016. The Irish are 3-1 all-time in the Barclays Center.

Next season, the Legends Classic will mark the team’s first visit, followed by the 2017 ACC Championship, set to be held at the Barclays Center March 7-11, 2017. The 2017 season is the first of two scheduled appearances (2017, 2018) of the ACC Championship at the Barclays Center.

Notre Dame’s full 2016-17 schedule will be released in late summer/early fall. There was one other schedule piece previously released, Notre Dame’s ACC team matchups for next season. Notre Dame will face Boston College, Georgia Tech, Florida State and Louisville in home and road games, Clemson, Duke, Wake Forest, Virginia and Syracuse at home, then take the road to Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh.
