Irish Will Head To Columbus, Ohio, For NCAA Regional Matchups

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team will head to Columbus, Ohio, for first and second round NCAA Championships action.

The No. 35 Fighting Irish (14-11) will take on No. 24 Vanderbilt (19-7) on May 8, while host Ohio State (25-8), the tournament’s No. 11 overall seed, will face Buffalo (12-10), the Mid-American Conference’s automatic qualifier, in the other half of the four-team pod. Times are to be determined.

The top 16 overall seeds will serve as host for first and second round regional action, with 31 teams automatically qualifying and the remaining 33 receiving at-large bids to the 64-team tournament. The winners of each four-team pod will advance to the NCAA Championships quarterfinals held May 16-19 at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.

Tournament matches will be regulation dual matches with three eight-game, pro-set doubles played for one team point, followed by six singles matches, each valued at one team point, played in best-of-three sets. Regular scoring will be used and a 12-point tiebreaker will be played at seven-games-all in doubles and at six-games-all in singles.
