“We believe in playing tough competition in order to challenge ourselves to become the very best we can become,” said Johnson. “This team has a chance to do something special and to build upon the foundation set by those who have come before us. In order to do that, we must continue to improve daily by maintaining a singular focus on making progress. If we can do that on a daily basis as we work to increase our rate of learning, we will give ourselves an opportunity to win the ACC and make a run in the NCAA Tournament.”
The Irish enter 2019 after sweeping 11 opponents en route to a 16-12 record last season. Notre Dame will return four Second Team All-ACC honorees, including Sydney Bent, Charley Niego, Zoe Nunez and Jemma Yeadon. Bent, Niego and Nunez each earned ACC All-Freshman Team accolades and Niego was also named an AVCA honorable mention All-American.
