Irish Volleyball Inks Three During Early Signing Period

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Notre Dame volleyball team has signed Aubrey Hamilton, Lindsey Miller and Hattie Monson to national letters of intent for the early signing period, head coach Mike Johnson announced today (Nov. 13). All three players are slated to join the program in the fall of 2020.

“This is a tremendous class for the future of Notre Dame, said Johnson. “We believe in the future of this program and we believe that this group of young women will be critical in helping this program move further into national prominence.  Each of these athletes is capable of playing at the very highest level. Further, we are very deliberate in the manner in which we recruit. We scour the country for those who are not only exceptional athletes, but also exceptional people. This is a great group of young women who will be wonderful ambassadors for the university.”

Hamilton, a 6-2 outside hitter, hails from Arrowhead High School in Hartland, Wisconsin. She was named an Under Armour Third Team All-American in 2019 after leading her team to its first-ever Wisconsin State Championship.

Ranked #34 on PrepVolleyball.com’s Senior Aces List, Hamilton earned PrepVolleyball.com Wisconsin Player of the Year honors in 2018. She was named to the Classic 8 Conference’s First Team on three occasions and was the league’s Player of the Year as both a sophomore and senior.

Hamilton also competed for the Milwaukee Sting and was named a First Team All-American by PrepVolleyball.com.

“Aubrey is a special player,” said Johnson. “She has the ability to score a lot of points while also developing in her ability to control the ball at a high level. We believe that Aubrey will become a complete player capable of playing at the very highest end in the country. What separates Aubrey is her willingness to work. She is a focused, disciplined, person who is willing to do what it takes.  That trait, above any other, will allow Aubrey to become a success both at Notre Dame and in life beyond. We are fired up to have Aubrey in the program!”

Miller is a 6-4 middle blocker out of Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, California. She was honored as a 2019 Under Armour First Team All-American while being ranked #42 on PrepVolleyball.com’s Senior Aces list.

Miller also competed for Coast Volleyball Club, and helped her squad earn bronze and silver medals at the 2019 and 2018 USA Volleyball Junior Nationals. She was also named to the 2018 Junior Nationals All-Tournament Team.

Lindsey is driven to become the best of the best,” said Johnson. “She has all of the tools necessary to become one of the best middles in the country.  She has great length, good speed, a good arm, and possesses a motor to keep working. She has the ability to score at multiple locations along the net and will become an excellent blocker as she refines her movement and her eye-work.  We are excited to coach Lindsey!”

Monson, a 5-6 libero out of Benet Academy in Lisle, Illinois, was named an Under Armour Second Team All-American and is ranked #38 on PrepVolleyball.com’s Senior Aces list. Monson also earned First Team All-Illinois and Voyager Media Player of the Year honors as a junior in 2018.

The libero also earned All-East Suburban Catholic Conference accolades in 2018 while helping her team earn a third-place finish in the Class 3A state playoffs.

Monson helped the 2018 U.S. Girls Youth National Team earn a gold medal at the NORCECA U18 Continental Championship.

“Hattie has a special work ethic,” said Johnson. “She has a tough, hard-nosed, mentality that we pride our defense upon.  She also possesses the ability to serve receive at a high level for this point in her career and we will challenge her daily to become the best in the country.  Hattie is always the first kid in the gym and the last to leave. She wants to be great and is willing to put in the work to get there. We are thrilled that Hattie will be joining us!”
