Irish Travel To Louisville; Illinois Match Cancelled

NOTRE DAME, Indiana — The Notre Dame women’s tennis team will open Atlantic Coast Conference play on Friday, Feb. 9 at Louisville. The match is set for 3 p.m.

A scheduled match with Illinois on Sunday, Feb. 11, has been cancelled due to the snow storm hitting the Midwest. Notre Dame will work with Illinois to reschedule the contest at a later date.

On The Fighting Irish

Notre Dame enters the weekend 2-1 on the spring season with victories over Western Michigan and Eastern Illinois before a loss at No. 22 Ohio State a week ago. Freshman Cameron Corse remains the only undefeated singles player for the Irish, going 3-0 at four singles. Jay Louderback has used the same lineup for all three matches, with all other players at 2-1 on the year in singles:

4. Cameron Corse
5. Caroline Dunleavy
6. Rachel Chong

The Irish have also used the same doubles lineup for all three matches thus far, with Broda & Miller at one with a 2-1 record, Corse & Spence going 3-0 at two and Ally Bojczuk and Chong posting a 2-1 record at three.

On The Cardinals

Louisville is 6-1 on the year coming off a trip to Murfreesboro, Tennessee. While in Middle Tennessee, the Cards took a 4-3 decision from the host Blue Raiders while falling to the American Athletic Conference’s Tulsa, 4-3. In the dual season, the Cardinals also have dual wins over Wright State, Dayton, UTEP, Northern Kentucky and Western Kentucky.

Notre Dame is 7-0 all-time against Louisville, including 6-0 under Louderback. Last year, the Irish took a 5-2 victory at Louisvlle.

Up Next

The Illinois contest was to open a six-match homestand for the Irish. Next weekend, they host Indiana and Wright State for a doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 18. Action against the Hoosiers begins at 10 a.m., with the showdown against the Raiders slated for 2 p.m. Both matches can be seen live on UND.com.
