NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame men’s and women’s track and field teams will open their indoor season Friday when they host the Blue and Gold Invitational at the Loftus Center.
The Irish will host DePaul, Marquette and Detriot-Mercy at the one-day meet.
The field events get started at 5:00 p.m., with races beginning at 6:00.
The Irish track and field squads return All-Americans Alyissa Hasan in the pentathlon and distance runner Patrick Smyth. Also returning are several all-BIG EAST honorees, including pole vaulters Mary Saxer and Matt Schipper, throwers Anna Weber and Denes Veres and sprinters Cora Dayon and Balazs Molnar.
The Irish men finished second at the 2008 BIG EAST Indoor Championships, while the women finished sixth.
