Irish Track and Field Set for Weekend Meets

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame men’s and women’s track and field teams are set to compete at the Indiana Invitational and the Findlay Open this weekend.

Most members of the Irish squads will compete Friday and Saturday at the Indiana Invitational held at the Gladstein Fieldhouse in Bloomington.

Friday’s schedule consists mostly of preliminary events, beginning with the women’s 60-meter hurdles starting the running events at 3 p.m., followed by the field events, with the weight throw and long jump to start things off, at 4.

The meet finals get underway Saturday morning, with the weight throw and triple jump at 9:30 a.m. and the women’s 5000 meters just after 10.

A few Irish student-athletes will compete in the multi events at the Findlay Open held in Findlay, Ohio Friday and Saturday.

Notre Dame is coming off strong performances at the Notre Dame Indoor Opener and Notre Dame Invitational. Several members of the Irish squads have qualified for the BIG EAST Championships, while seniors Mary Saxer (pole vault) and Anna Weber (weight throw) set NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
