Irish Track and Field Ready for Indoor Opener

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame track and field teams are set to host the 2009 Notre Dame Indoor Opener Friday evening at the Loftus Sports Center. The Indoor Opener is the second of five home meets this season, and the first in 2009.

The long jump will start things off at 5:30 p.m., with the first running event, the women’s 60-meter hurdles, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Irish are coming off great success at last Saturday’s Indiana Opener. Senior Mary Saxer won the women’s pole vault event with a mark of 4.00m. Sophomores Kelly Langhans and Natalie Johnson finished 1-2 in the women’s 600m dash with times of 1:33.47 and 1:34.65, respectively. Freshman Jordan Rincon and senior Billy Buzaid took the top two spots in the men’s 600m dash, finishing in 1:20.06 and 1:20.46, respectively.
