Irish Track and Field Competes During First Day of NCAA Regional

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Irish track and field squads competed during the first day of the NCAA Mideast Regional meet Friday at Cardinal Park Track Complex on the campus of the University of Louisville.

Three Irish student-athletes earned top-five finishes as Anna Weber finished fifth in the women’s hammer throw, Mary Saxer finished fifth in the women’s pole vault and Jaclyn Espinoza finished fifth in the women’s discus.

Competition continues on Saturday with events beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Women’s 1500 Meters: Marissa Treece finished 13th with a preliminary time of 4:34.62.

Men’s 1500 Meters: Jordan Carlson ran a preliminary time of 3:48.93 to finish 14th.

Women’s 400 Meters: Joanna Schultz advanced to the finals with a fourth-place preliminary finish and a time of 54.03.

Men’s 400-Meter Hurdles: Balazs Molnar finished 15th with a time of 53.74.

Women’s 800 Meters: Kelly Langhans advanced to the finals with a preliminary eighth-place finish and a time of 2:07.46.

Men’s 800 Meters: Blake Choplin finished 13th with a time of 1:51.06, just ahead of Jack Howard in 14th with a time of 1:51.10.

Women’s Pole Vault: Mary Saxer finished fifth with a mark of 4.11m (13-5 3/4).

Men’s Long Jump: Eric Quick finished 13th with a mark of 7.48m (24-6 1/2).

Women’s Hammer Throw: Anna Weber finished fifth with a toss of 61.20m (200-09).

Men’s Shot Put: Andrew Hills finished 19th with a mark of 16.35m (53-7 3/4), followed by John Belcher in 21st with a toss of 16.20 (53-1 3/4).

Women’s Discus Throw: Jaclyn Espinoza recorded a toss of 52.55m (172-05) to finish fifth, while Anna Weber finish 14th with a mark of 47.64m (156-03).
