2016 Spring Schedule

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame women’s soccer team will return to Alumni Stadium for the first time since last fall’s NCAA Championship first round when the Irish welcome the Chicago Red Stars in an exhibition matchup Wednesday.

The Irish will face the Red Stars of the National Women’s Soccer League at 7 p.m. ET Wednesday in their first of two spring matches held at Alumni Stadium. Notre Dame will host the Mexico U-20 Women’s National Team at 7 p.m. ET on April 22 on their home turf.

Earlier this year, recent Irish graduate Katie Naughton was chosen by the Red Stars with the 19th pick of the NWSL College Draft. A native of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, Naughton became the third Irish player to be selected in the draft since the NWSL was established four years ago.

Wednesday’s game will be the second spring matchup for the Irish, who defeated Unionville (Canada) 9-0 on March 19. The Irish will travel to West Lafayette, Indiana, to face Purdue this Sunday, but will play out the remainder of its schedule at home against Ball State (April 15, men’s soccer practice field), Northwestern (April 17, women’s soccer practice field) and Mexico (April 22, Alumni Stadium).

Admission for Wednesday’s match between Notre Dame and Chicago is free.
