Irish To Host DePaul During First Round Of BIG EAST Championship On Wednesday

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The No. 6 Notre Dame men’s soccer team will host DePaul during the first round of the BIG EAST Championship on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Alumni Field. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. (ET). The Fighting Irish defeated DePaul 3-0 earlier this season at home on Sept. 10. This marks the sixth-straight season in which the Irish have earned a berth into the conference’s postseason tournament.

The Fighting Irish concluded the regular season with a 1-0 victory at No. 14 Connecticut on Saturday (Oct. 21). Notre Dame is 12-4-2 overall and finished the BIG EAST regular season with an 8-3-0 mark to earn the No. 3 seed in the Blue Division. DePaul is 5-11-2 (4-7-0 BIG EAST) and is the sixth seed from the Red Division.

Notre Dame is 8-6-2 all-time in the BIG EAST Tournament, including league titles in 1996 and 2003. The Fighting Irish tied Syracuse 0-0 in last year’s first round at Alumni Field before advancing on penalty kicks, 4-2. The Irish then fell at St. John’s, 1-0, in the quarterfinals.

Tickets for Wednesday’s match are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for youth (21-years-old and younger) and senior citizens (55-years-old and up). You can purchase tickets by calling the University of Notre Dame ticket office at (574) 631-7356 or by stopping by the Alumni Field ticket window the night of the game.

The winner of Wednesday’s match will advance to the tournament quarterfinals to take on Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J. on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 5:00 p.m. (ET).
