Irish To Hold Free Event In Indianapolis Area On Saturday

Sept. 21, 2011

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s lacrosse team will take part in a “barnstorming” trip to central Indiana this Saturday. The Fighting Irish will hold a practice/instrasquad scrimmage at Carmel High School in Carmel, Ind., to help energize the growth of lacrosse in the Indianapolis area. The event will take place from 1:00-3:30 p.m. (ET) and it is free and open to the public.

“The trip to Carmel is a chance for us to help and serve the lacrosse community down there,” says Notre Dame head coach Kevin Corrigan. “Lacrosse is growing in that area, but they don’t have a college program close to them. We are the closest college program for them and we’re over 100 miles away. This will be a good old-fashioned barnstorming trip to help promote and serve the lacrosse community in that part of Indiana.”

The Fighting Irish posted an 11-3 record last season and were ranked No. 1 in the national polls during a stretch of the campaign. Notre Dame reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship for the third time in the last four seasons. The Irish made it all the way to the national title game in 2010.
