The Notre Dame women’s soccer team (7-1-0, 1-0-0 BIG EAST) – ranked as high as 5th in the national polls – returns to Alumni Field for a doubleheader with the Irish men’s team before five straight road games … the ND women will face Cincinnati (2-4-2) on Friday, Sept. 23, at 5:00 EST, followed by the Irish men vs. Louisville … the Irish women then will play at Louisville on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 25, 1:00 EDT/noon in South Bend) … ND dropped a 2-1 game at Santa Clara on Sept. 9 (1-2) before rebounding with wins over Gonzaga (4-1), DePaul (6-0) and Michigan (3-0) for a 13-1 scoring edge in that 3-game stretch … ND leads the nation in scoring with 41 goals and 5.13 goals/gm, after a big opening week at the Vermont Classic (11-1 vs. UNH, 6-0 vs. UVm) and week-2 wins at the ND Classic over a pair of nationally-ranked teams (4-1 vs. #11 Florida, 6-0 vs. #25 Maryland) … the DePaul game was the 400th in the 17-year history of ND women’s soccer (the Irish program has won nearly 84% of its all-time games, at 326-58-17) … the Irish are in the midst of opening BIG EAST play vs. the five new teams in the conference (DePaul, Cincinnati, Louisville, Marquette and South Florida).
