NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team concludes its 2009 fall slate by splitting their squad, each competing in three-day tournaments from Friday (Nov. 5) until Sunday (Nov. 7). Half of the team is set to compete in the Tribe Invitational at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center in Williamsburg, Va., while the other half will participate in the Alabama Invitational at the Alabama Tennis Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The Tribe Invitational will include six singles flights and three doubles flights with players from William & Mary, College of Charleston and Maryland. Competition will begin Friday at 8:00 a.m. (ET) with final matches for the day beginning at 6:00 p.m.

This is the fifth-annual Tribe Invitational and Notre Dame’s fifth appearance. During the 2009-10 season there were five Irish players placed on the all-tournament team.

Competition at the Alabama Invitational also begins Friday featuring eight singles flights and two doubles flights. The first sets of matches begin at 10:00 a.m. (ET) and continue through the day.

The tournament is comprised of 24 teams from 10 different states, including BIG EAST opponent, Louisville.

The Irish most recently come off of hosting the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Championships. During competition, junior Casey Watt (Gibsonia/Pa./Pine-Richland) downed Ohio State’s Chase Buchanan, the number one seed in the singles draw, in a two-set match to advance to the semifinal round.
