NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s and women’s track and field teams are set to participate in the Polytan Invitational (April 20) in Bloomington, Ind., the elite Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., (April 18-19) and the California Invitational (April 17-18) in Azusa, Calif., this week.

Ted Glasnow (decathlon) and Carly Loffel (heptathlon) get the action underway for the Irish Wednesday at Azusa Pacific University, as Glasnow competes at 1 p.m. (ET) followed by Loffel at 2 p.m. (ET). The finales of the events are scheduled to start during the same time window Thursday.

Jeremy Rae and J.P. Malette head west for their events in the Mt. SAC Relays, Thursday and Friday, on the campus of Mt. San Antonio College.

The rest of the Notre Dame track and field team competes in the Polytan Invitational on the campus of Indiana University Saturday. The meet is scheduled to run from 4:30 – 10 p.m. (ET).

Notre Dame partnered with Indiana last weekend (April 13) to form team Hooiserland in their pursuit to capture state superiority in the fourth-annual Border Battle “Kentuckiana” against Commonwealth (Kentucky/Louisville) on the campus of Louisville, Ky.

Notre Dame set three new meet records and acquired nine first-place finishes as team Commonwealth advanced past team Hooiserland by eight points.

The Commonwealth and Hoosierland each have two wins in the event over the four years it has been offered.

Senior Rebecca Tracy earned the BIG EAST Runner of the Week for her efforts in the past meet; setting meet records in each of her first place finishes.

The senior won the 1,500m in a time of 4:17.12. The mark establishes her with the fourth fastest time in the country in the event. Tracy additionally took first-place in the 800m (207.12), edging out teammate Danielle Aragon by one one-hundredth of a second. The 2013 indoor All-American ranks No. 1 in the BIG EAST in the 800m.

Notre Dame returns to action April 26-27 to compete in the Drake Relays (Des Moines, Iowa) and the Hillsdale Gina Relays (Hillsdale, Mich.)
