Irish Tied For Seventh At The Minnesota Invitational

WOODBURY, Minn. — The Notre Dame women’s golf team got their 2017-18 season started in style, firing an opening round 284 (-4) on Monday morning at the Minnesota Invitational at the Prestwick Golf Club (par 72/6,248 yards). The Irish followed up with a 289 (+1) in Monday afternoon’s second round and are tied for seventh (284-289-573) with one round remaining.

Junior Emma Albrecht led the Irish at four-under par (68-72-140) and she will enter the final round tied for 10th, five strokes behind first place.

Michigan State (557) leads Southern Cal (558) by one stroke on the team leaderboard, while the Irish are tied for seventh with Wisconsin (573). Strengthened by a course and tournament record 64 in the opening round, Michigan State’s Paz Marfa Sans (135) leads the field of 78 golfers.

The third and final round will begin at 10:15 ET on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.

Note Of The Day

Notre Dame’s opening round 284 marked the eighth-lowest aggregate score in the Irish women’s golf records book, while the four-under par total marked the fifth-lowest team round in relation to par.

Leading The Irish Lineup

Albrecht fired a four-under par 68 in the morning round, tying her career low total. The 68 also tied for the eighth-best round in the Irish records book. Her opening-round 68 included three birdies and an eagle on the per-5 10th (her ninth hole of the day after starting on the 10th tee). She then followed up with an even-par 72 in the afternoon.

Junior Isabella DiLisio (69-75-144) and freshman Abby Heck (72-72-144) finished the day tied for 25th. DiLisio’s opening round 69 was her seventh career round in the 60’s. Heck had two birdies and two bogeys in the first round but otherwise racked up a tournament-leading 32 pars on the day.

Junior Maddie Rose Hamilton’s (75-72-147) rounds both counted towards team scoring, including her second round, even-par 72. Senior Alison Snakard (81-73-154) bounced back in the afternoon to also score for the Irish by carding a 73.

Up Next

After opening the season at the Minnesota Invitational, the Irish will head to Norman, Oklahoma for the fourth consecutive season to take part in the 2017 Schooner Fall Classic (Sept. 23-25). In 2016, the Irish tied for sixth, shooting an 871 (283-298-290) at the par 71 course.
