FOR STARTERS

  • The Irish will take on the Duke Blue Devils for an ACC quarterfinal matchup. This is the second time the Irish and Blue Devils will meet this seseason.
  • There will be live stats available and the matchup will be aired live on the ACC Network.
  • The Irish (8-8, 3-5 ACC) enter the tournament as the No. 5 seed and meet fourth-seeded Duke (15-2, 6-2 ACC) in the quarterfinals this Friday, April 29 at 2:30 p.m. ET.
  • The winner of the Notre Dame/Duke contest will take on the winner of the Louisville-Pittsburgh/North Carolina quarterfinal on Sunday, May 1 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
  • Entering the ACC tournament, Kasey Choma leads the team with 51 goals.
  • Bridget Deehan established a new career high for the second time this season. She notched 19 saves in the matchup against North Carolina.
  • Madison Mote tallied a career high in goals and points against Duke with five goals, two assists, and seven points.
  • Maddie Howe notched a new career high against the Yale Bulldogs with seven goals.
  • Hannah Dorney leads the Irish with 23 caused turnovers and currently ranks fifth in the ACC with an average of 1.31 caused turnovers per game. She also ranks seventh in the ACC in ground balls with an average of 1.94 ground balls per game.
  • Bridget Deehan ranks second in the ACC in saves percentage (.452) and second in saves per game (8.75).
  • Sophomore Lilly Callahan appeared in goal for the Irish against Detroit Mercy where she saved a career high six shots.
  • Freshman Ciara Mazzone made her way into play against Detroit Mercy and recorded her first collegiate career goal.
  • Madison Ahern is ninth in the ACC in points per game with 4.00 points per game, and she is also fourth in shots per game with 6.63.
  • Jackie Wolak is 10th in the ACC in assists per game with 1.38.

THE NOTRE DAME – DUKE SERIES

  • The Irish and Blue Devils will be meeting for the 23rd  time overall on Saturday at Arlotta Stadium.
  • This is the second meeting of the season for these two teams, and the third consecutive meeting in the ACC quarterfinals.
  • Madison Mote led the way for the Irish offense, scoring a career-high five goals to go with two assists in the last matchup.
  • Bridget Deehan collected nine saves in net for the sixth time this season.
  • Irish head coach Christine Halfpenny spent three seasons (2004-06) as an assistant coach at Duke.

2022 ACC TOURNAMENT

  • The #8/#9 seed game, the quarterfinal games, and the semifinal games of the 2022 ACC Championship is being played at Arlotta Stadium at the University of Notre Dame, and will be televised on ACC Network.
  • On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 seed Boston College meets No. 7 seed Virginia Tech and No. 3 seed Syrcause faces No. 6 seed Virginia.
  • The championship game is slated for Saturday, May 7 at 6:00 p.m. ET, and will take place at the remaining highest seed.

IRISH IN THE ACC TOURNAMENT

  • This marks Notre Dame’s eighth trip to the ACC Tournament since joining the conference in 2014.
  • The Irish will be aiming for their fourth trip (2016, 2018) to the ACC Semifinals and first-ever appearance in the ACC Championship Game.
  • Notre Dame owns a 3-4 mark all-time in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament.

IN THE POLLS

  • After sixteen games of the 2022 season, the Irish are ranked No. 20 in  the IWLCA/IL Women poll.
  • The Irish were  ranked No. 5 in the IL Women/IWLCA Preseason Poll.
  • Five other ACC programs are currently ranked in the top-25 according to the  IL Women/IWLCA Preseason Poll, including #1 North Carolina, #2 Boston College, #3 Syracuse, and #7 Duke, and #16 Virginia.
  • The Irish checked in at #7 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Poll.

TOP FIVE SCHEDULE

  • The Fighting Irish have played eight  top-25 opponents in the 2022 season.
  • The ACC is home to six ranked opponents in #1 North Carolina, #2 Boston College, #3 Syracuse, #7 Duke,  #16 Virginia, and #20 Notre Dame.
  • Notre Dame has one of the top five hardest schedules in Division I women’s lacrosse according to lacrossereference.com.

IL MIDSEASON ALL-AMERICANS

  • Madison Ahern and Kasey Choma were named midseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse/IL Women on March 31, 2022.
  • Both earned honorable mention honors.

ALL-ACC ACCOLADES

  • On April 26 Kasey Choma, Madison Ahern, and Bridget Deehan were named to the All-ACC Team. 
  • Choma earned All-ACC First Team honors after tallying 51 goals, 28 draw controls and 13 caused turnovers. 
  • Ahern was voted All-ACC Second Team with 50 goals, and 15 assists for 65 points. 
  • Deehan was named All-ACC Second Team after 140 saves and .452 save percentage in the 2022 season.
  • Grace Weigand was named to the All-ACC Freshman team after a breakout first season. She recorded 10 draw controls, six caused turnoverss, and two assists after recording six starts throughout the season.

100 Point CLub

  • In the 2022 season, three  Irish have notched their 100th career point.
  • Kasey Choma tabbed her 100th point in the 20-5 victory over Jacksonville on March 13.
  • Madison Ahern tallied her 100th career point in the thrilling 12-10 victory over the ranked #13 Virginia Cavaliers.
  • Jackie Wolak marked her 100th career point in the Irish win over Marquette.
  • There are four active players who have surpassed the 100 career points mark; Maddie Howe, Kasey Choma, Madison Ahern, and Jackie Wolak.
  • Diana Kelly picked up her 100th career ground ball in the win against Marquette. She is second on the team in ground balls (24) and draw controls (50). 
  • In the 2022 season opener against Central Michigan, Maddie Howe notched her 200th career point, and is now third all-time in program history with 250 points.
