Irish Take Home Four All-American Honors at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Al.- The Fighting Irish traveled to Birmingham, Alabama for the 2022 NCAA Indoor National Championship. Four Irish  competed in individual events and both the men’s and women’s distance medley relay teams also competed.

To kick things off on the first day, Jadin O’Brien brought home fourth place and an All-American status in the women’s pentathlon when scored 4212 points. 

Following the women’s pentathlon, Dylan Jacobs ran in the 5000m race. He placed ninth taking home a time of 13:31.43. 

The men’s distance medley relay team of Sam Voelz, Max Frye, Tim Zepf, and Yared Nuguse took second place. They ran for a time of 9:25.77. With their second place finish the entire squad takes home All-American honors.

The women’s distance medley relay team of Erin Sullivan, Jadin O’Brien, Kaitlin Ryan, Olivia Markezich finished in eighth place with a time of 11:05.60. Their finish gives the women’s team All-American honors as well. 

Rachel Tanczos threw for a mark of 23.06m in the weight throw taking fourth place. Tanczos takes home All-American honors. 

Maddy Denner competed in the 5000m race and ran for a time of 16:47.28. She placed 16th overall.

To round out the Irish, Yared Nuguse finished ninth in the men’s 3000m race. He raced for a time of 8:01.53.
