NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently announced its top academic performing squads and the Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team continued to be a fixture on the list, wrapping up fall 2008 with a cumulative grade-point-average better than 3.0.

Under the direction of first year head coach Brian Barnes, the Irish accumulated a team grade-point-average of 3.02. Notre Dame’s cumulative grade-point-average put the Irish in the ranks with 184 other women’s teams nationwide to receive the prestigious honor from the CSCAA.

The 25th-ranked Irish are preparing for the 2009 BIG EAST Conference Championship meet, which will be held Feb. 18-21 in Indianapolis. The Irish seek their 13th consecutive league title and hope to extend the longest championship-winning streak of any BIG EAST sport.
