NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame fencing program continues to revel in their success from last weekend, as ACC Conference offices announced late Tuesday evening that Jonathan Fitzgerald and Lee Kiefer had been named the ACC Male and Female Fencers of the Week. It is the third time Notre Dame has won both awards in the same week and the second consecutive week the Irish have won.

Fitzgerald posted a 13-1 record at the Northwestern Duals, leading the No. 2-ranked Fighting Irish men’s team to a perfect 6-0 record on Saturday. A native of East Brunswick, New Jersey, Fitzgerald was 3-0 against No. 7 Princeton, 2-1 against No. 8 Pennsylvania, and 2-0 against No. 10 Stanford, while going a combined 6-0 against Air Force, UC-San Diego, and Cal Tech. Leading the sabre squad to six wins, Fitzgerald had victories over former NCAA Qualifiers Peter Pak of Princeton and Air Force’s Ryan Redhead.

Kiefer was a perfect 9-0 at the Northwestern Duals, with all nine victories coming against four ranked opponents. A native of Versailles, Kentucky, Kiefer went 3-0 against No. 3 Princeton and No. 6 Pennsylvania, 2-0 against No. 9 Northwestern, and 1-0 against No. 10 Temple. The top-ranked Notre Dame women’s squad was 7-0 on the day with additional victories over Stanford, Air Force, and UC-San Diego.

The Irish are next in action this weekend, as they host the second annual DeCicco Duals. The meet starts at 10 a.m. ET on both days.
