SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The University of Notre Dame tennis team earned a pair of narrow victories on their northeast road trip this weekend, defeating Boston College and Syracuse each, 4-3. The Fighting Irish improve to 11-8 on the season and are 4-5 in Atlantic Coast Conference action with the wins.
Against Boston College, The Irish notched the doubles point as the pairs of Julia Andreach and Yashna Yellayi and Carrie Beckman and Nibedita Ghosh earned wins at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Both matches were scored 6-3.
In singles play, the Irish and Eagles split the six matches. Notre Dame got wins from Andreach at No. 2 (6-4. 4-6, 7-5), Yellayi (6-4, 6-4), and Ghosh (6-3, 6-3).
Sunday’s match with the Orange took a different route. The Irish dropped the doubles point, falling behind early. Notre Dame got straight-set wins from Page Freeman and Andreach, while also taking the fifth and sixth flights by default.
