NOTRE DAME, Ind. – A host of University of Notre Dame swimming and diving athletes recently competed on the national stage as part of the 2018 Phillips 66 Summer National Championships at the William Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine, California.
Sophomore Zach Yeadon placed fourth in the 400-meter freestyle event with a time of 3:49.09, qualifying for the U.S. National Team and the 2019 World University Games in the process. Yeadon, who was previously named a First-Team All-America selection in the 1650 freestyle during his freshman campaign at Notre Dame, added a seventh-place result in the 800m freestyle (7:56.32) and a 10th-place finish in the 1500m freestyle (15:21.21).
Other key performances by Notre Dame athletes during the Phillips 66 Summer National Championships included seniors Kyra Sarazen (13th, 2:11.37) and Alice Treuth (16th, 2:13.34) in the 200m backstroke ‘B’ final, junior Jack Montesi (19th, 2:01.14) in the 200m backstroke, sophomore Lindsay Stone (21st, personal-best 16:43.10) in the 1500m freestyle, junior Abbie Dolan (tied for 25th, 2:00.63) in the 200m freestyle and sophomore Sadler McKeen (30th, personal-best 8:11.69) in the 800m freestyle.
“We had a fantastic week in Irvine highlighted by Zach making the U.S. National Team/World University Games in the 400 free, and multiple personal bests by our group,” Notre Dame head coach Mike Litzinger said. “The summer put in by this team will certainly resonate in the fall when we arrive back on campus, and I am proud that our program is taking great steps forward on the national level.”
