MIAMI — The University of Notre Dame men’s and women’s tennis teams both lost in the championship match of the BIG EAST Tournament on Sunday. The men’s team lost to Miami by a 4-1 score while the women lost to the Hurricanes by a 4-2 count.

In the men’s match, Miami went out in front by picking up the doubles point and then won singles matches at the No. 1, 4 and 5 positions to clinch the league championship. Notre Dame’s Eric Enloe was the only Irish player to score a point in the match with a win at No. 6 singles.

Notre Dame head coach Bobby Bayliss was named the BIG EAST coach of the year.

In the women’s final, Miami again won the doubles point and picked up victories at No. 1, 4 and 6 singles. Notre Dame’s Michelle Dasso won at No. 2 singles while Marisa Velasco won at No. 3.
