NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame softball team is accepting registration forms for the 2013 Irish Softball Clinic, to be held Sunday, Jan. 27. Notre Dame head coach Deanna Gumpf, associate coaches Kris Ganeff and Lizzy Lemire, volunteer assistant coach Gessica Hufnagle and selected team members will provide instruction during three separate training sessions.

“Hitting Irish Style” will kick off the clinic from 9-11 a.m. in the indoor cages of the Frank Eck Baseball Stadium on the campus of Notre Dame. The offensive session is open to players ages seven and up, and will focus through lecture, drills and live hitting on the typical daily training routines Irish softball hitters participate in. The session is $75.00 per player, and is limited to the first 30 to register.

“Becoming Irish” is an all-skills camp that will be held from 12-4 p.m. inside the Loftus Field House. Players ages 11 and up will participate in specific position fundamentals and drills to enhance their skills in each facet of the game, including throwing, defense, offense and base running. The $150.00 session is recommended for all defensive players with the exception of pitchers, and is limited to 60 total players.

A two-hour pitching clinic will close the day’s events from 2-4 p.m. inside the Loftus Field House. Pitchers will develop their skills through drills and fundamental breakdowns, and are asked to bring a catcher with them to take part in certain segments of the session. The cost is $75.00 per pitcher and is limited to 30 participants, ages seven and up.
