NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame softball coach Deanna Gumpf announced the revised 2012 fall schedule, which includes three games for the Fighting Irish at Melissa Cook Stadium. The team returns 13 Monogram winners from last season and welcomes five true freshmen to the roster in 2013.

“With the majority of our lineup returning, the fall season will be a good opportunity for our new faces to see some action and get to know how they play together,” Gumpf said. “The contests we have scheduled, along with our Blue-Gold intra-squad games, will give us a great chance to get ready for the upcoming spring season.”

The Fighting Irish open the home portion of fall play Sept. 30 at noon (ET) against Loyola-Chicago. The second game of the Sunday doubleheader against Ball State is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch. Loyola-Chicago and Ball State are set to meet at 2:15 p.m. in the day’s other contest.

Notre Dame concludes its exhibition home slate with a showdown against Western Michigan Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.

The annual Blue-Gold intra-squad series wraps up fall action for the Fighting Irish Oct. 10-11. The game on Oct. 10 is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m., with the contest the following day set for a 3:45 p.m. start.
