Irish Set To Open Indoor Track Season This Weekend

The University of Notre Dame men’s and women’s track and field teams will begin the indoor portion of their 2005 schedule this weekend at the Central Michigan Opener in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., on Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Jack Skoog Track. Field events begin at 12:30 p.m. followed by running events at 1:30 p.m.

After this weekend’s opener, Notre Dame will return to the Loftus Sports Center for three consecutive weekends of home meets. The Irish will host the Notre Dame Indoor Opener on January 21st and the Notre Dame Invitational on January 29th. The Meyo Invitational will also be held on campus on January 4th and 5th.

Irish women are 10th in latest Trackwire poll:

The Irish women are 10th in the latest Trackwire.com rankings. The Trackwire 25 projects a hypothetical score for the NCAA meet, based on scoring by the top 12 athletes and relay squads in each NCAA event.

The women’s team finished second during the BIG EAST indoor season a year ago and third in the outdoor campaign.
