GAME NOTES – Notre Dame and Louisville both saw their games called off on Friday night, due to lightning (ND was leading 1-0 at Cincinnati, after 50 minutes of play, while UL led 2-0 at DePaul in the 62nd minute) … 70 minutes are required for games to be official (potential makeup games – with full 0-0 restarts – would be played on Oct. 26, if they affect the top-five divisional seedings for the BIG EAST Tournament) … Notre Dame leads the all-time series with Louisville (3-1-0), including a 3-0 road win last season … the Irish struck twice in a span of 44 seconds when that game appeared headed for a scoreless intermission … the first score in the 2005 ND-UL game (43:33) was an own-goal, via Katie Thorlakson’s corner kick and a header by Brittany BockKerri Hanks then sent a rising free-kick over the wall and into the left side of the goal for the 2-0 halftime edge (she later set up a Thorlakson goal for the final margin) … ND held a 17-10 edge in total shots during the 2005 game at UL (9-7 in SOG, 7-2 in CKs) … Lauren Karas picked up the win, en route to earning BIG EAST goalkeeper of the week … previous games at Alumni Field in the series include a 1-0 win for UL in ’89 and ND’s 6-1 win in ’91 … ND’s Bock and Carrie Dew and UL’s Joanna Haig were teammates on the U.S. Under-20 national Team … UL’s Shannon Smyth played ODP Region II soccer alongside three ND players (Bock, Amanda Clark and Michele Weissenhofer), who are products of the Neuqua Valley High School program that also produced UL’s Jen Avila.
