The men’s and women’s squad both won the team championships back in 2019 and swept the men’s and women’s individual championships as well. Three of the six individual champions will be back on the strip this weekend to defend their crowns. Kara Linder, Miriam Grady and Malcolm Fields will be looking to claim back-to-back individual championships this weekend.

On the team side, Notre Dame has just faced Duke during the regular season at the Duke Meet on Feb. 8-9. The men’s team defeated the 10th-ranked Blue Devils 17-10 and the women followed suit by the same score the following day. Lortkipanidze and Machovec went 3-0 for the men against Duke while Partridge and Deschner went 2-0 for the women against Duke.

Last season at the ACC’s, both the men’s and women’s team championship came down to the final match between No. 1 seed Notre Dame and No. 2 seed Duke.

On the men’s side, the Irish clinched the championship after a 20-7 win over Duke. Darius Zacharakis, Jared Smith and Andrew Machovec all went 3-0 and they will all be competing again this weekend. The women defeated Duke by a score of 22-5 to clinch the team championship for the fourth time in five years. Dasha Yefremenko, Stefani Deschner, Partridge and Linder all finished 3-0 and will all take to the strip again this weekend.

The championship format has changed this season with both individual championships decided on the first day of competition and the team championships will follow on Sunday. The men’s individual championship is up first at 8 a.m. on Saturday with the semi-finals and finals to follow before the women hit the strip in the afternoon.
