Irish Resume Spring At Augusta Haskins Award Invitational

Notre Dame one of 15 teams in strong Augusta field on the eve of The Masters

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Fresh off a fifth-place finish at last month’s Tar Heel Intercollegiate, the Notre Dame men’s golf team returns to competition this weekend at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational, hosted by the Augusta Golf Association and Augusta University, at Forest Hills Golf Club. The tournament in Augusta is one of many local golf events that will lead into the 83rd edition of The Masters on April 11-14 at the famed Augusta National Golf Club.

A total of 15 teams make up the tournament field, including five squads ranked among the current top-50 programs nationally. A shotgun start on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. (ET) will kick off the tournament’s opening 36 holes. Sunday’s final round of 18 holes will feature tee times off the first and 10th tees between 8:30 and 8:45 a.m.

The Course

The Augusta Haskins Award Invitational will take place at the Forest Hills Golf Club, which is a 7,005-yard, par 72 layout.

The Field

The 15-team field consists of Augusta, Air Force, No. 39 Arkansas, Georgia State, Houston, No. 24 Illinois, Mercer, Northern Illinois, No. 18 South Carolina, No. 7 Texas, UCF, USC Aiken, Virginia Tech, No. 3 Wake Forest and Notre Dame.

The Irish Five

The Irish starting lineup for the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational will consist of Davis LambMiguel DelgadoAndrew O’LearyTaichi Kho and John Felitto.

In its most recent showing at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate on March 23-24 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Notre Dame turned in a three-round score of 14-over-par (302-284-292=878) to finish in fifth place. Miguel Delgado was the solo standout for the Irish on the UNC Finley Golf Course, tying a career best with a second-place finish and a three-under score of 213 (75-67-71). Five of Delgado’s last six starts have seen the Notre Dame senior post an under-par final score.
