Irish Remain In Third After Second Round Of Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 19th-ranked Notre Dame women’s golf team will enter the final round of the Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate three shots off the lead and in third place. The Fighting Irish carded a 300 (+16) during Saturday’s second round at the par-71, 5,963-yard North River Golf Club and carry a 36-hole total of 598 (+29). No. 6 Arkansas leads the field with a 595.

Louisville has a 596 total and is second among the field of 18 teams, which includes five top-25 teams in the latest Golfstat rankings. Notre Dame entered the day tied for third and remained there, while Furman and No. 7 Auburn round out the top five with respective scores of 600 and 601.

Furman’s Stefanie Kenoyer and Arkansas’ Stacy Lewis are tied a top the individual leader board with identical scores of 144. A three-way tie for third includes Fighting Irish freshman So-Hyun Park (Seoul, South Korea/Bradenton Prep (FL)), who carded the team’s top round on Saturday with a one-over par 72. Park is one shot off the pace with a three-over par 145 total.

Notre Dame’s Lisa Maunu (St. Thomas, Ontario/Parkside Collegiate Institute), a junior, posted a three-over par 74 during the second round and has a seven-over par 149. Maunu is in a two-way tie for 13th among the field of 96 golfers.

Sophomore Annie Brophy (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) registered a five-over par 76 on the day and resides in a six-way tie for 25th with a 151 (+9) total. Her classmate Kristin Wetzel (Middletown, N.Y./Hilton Head Prep (SC)) fired a 79 on Saturday and is among a nine-way tie for 42nd with a 154. Freshman Katie Conway (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) shot a seven-over par 78 and is tied for 51st with a score of 155.

The Irish will try to make up the three-shot deficit during Sunday’s third and final round. Notre Dame is looking for its fourth victory of the season in what is the fifth and final tournament of the fall slate.

The third round of the Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate is scheduled to begin with an 8:40 a.m. (CT) shotgun start on Sunday.
