Hoagland Earns All-America Honors On Final Day of NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Notre Dame men’s swimmers, led by sophomore Jack Hoagland, wrapped up the 2021 NCAA Championships Saturday. Hoagland, who scored in all four events in which he swam (three individual and one relay), earned First Team All-America honors for his fifth-place finish in the 1650 Free.

Hoagland earned honorable mention designation in the 500 Free and 400 IM, while also swimming with senior Sadler McKeen, sophomore Cason Wilburn and sophomore Alec DeLong in the 800 Free Relay to achieve honorable mention status.

“I’m extremely proud of Jack and his accomplishments this weekend,” head swim coach Mike Litzinger noted. “To score in all three individual events and help our 800 Free Relay to a scoring finish as well is amazing.

“Overall, our men competed well after a year away from this environment, and will be ready to take this experience back to South Bend and the rest of the team.”

Junior Josh Bottelberghe, freshman Tyler Christianson, sophomore Jack Hoagland and junior Zachary Smith represented the Irish at the national meet in individual events
