Irish Recognized By CSCAA For Academics

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Continuing off the success of their 2018-19 season, the University of Notre Dame’s swim and dive teams earned Scholar All-America honors as announced by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, Tuesday.

 

"I am incredibly proud of our student athletes as they continue to excel at the highest of levels in and out of the pool," head coach Mike Litzinger said.

The women’s team posted a grade point average above that of their competition, as they held a 3.51 GPA, well above the 3.45 median for women’s teams recognized. In the pool, the women went undefeated last season, posting a 10-0-1 record and finished fourth at the ACC Championship meet. A record eight individual swimmers qualified for the NCAA Championships along with three divers. In total, 15 Irish women doned the monogram in Austin, Texas as they competed at the national meet, finishing 41st overall. Three women were honored with All-ACC Academic Team recognition for their contributions in the classroom.

In the classroom, the men’s squad owned a 3.20 GPA in 2018-19, including four individuals who earned All-ACC Academic Team honors in the spring. On their way to a 4-4 regular season finish, the men finished sixth at the ACC Championships and sent four individuals to the NCAA Championships.

A record 480 institutions received honors from the CSCAA following the conclusion of the academic year.
