NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame women’s indoor track and field team checked in at No. 9 in today’s NCAA Indoor Track & Field Preseason Poll, the highest preseason ranking in program history.

The women’s distance runners, including 2015 NCAA Cross Country Champion Molly Seidel and 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Cross Country Champion Anna Rohrer, highlight the roster this season. Seidel, a four-time national champion, returned for a fifth year to compete during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.

Notre Dame received the highest ranking of any ACC team, falling just ahead of No. 14 Miami and No. 16 North Carolina State.

The Irish opened their indoor season with 12 wins at the annual Blue & Gold Invitational. Freshmen Summer Thorpe (1st, 8.64) and Naya Sharp (3rd, 8.75) recorded top-three finishes in the women’s 60m hurdles. Junior Allison Bartoszewicz finished first (25.29) in the women’s 200m dash, and senior Indi Jackson recorded a first-place finish in the shot put (15.05).

Notre Dame returns to action at 11 a.m. ET on January 14 at the Illini Classic in Champaign, Ill.
