NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The IWLCA revealed its preseason coaches’ poll on Monday, featuring the University of Notre Dame women’s lacrosse program with the No. 15 spot in the country.
The IWLCA poll is expanded to 25 teams for the first time this season. The Irish were one of six ACC teams that landed in the top-25, including North Carolina (No. 3), Boston College (No. 6), Syracuse (No. 7), Virginia (No. 14) and Duke (No. 20).
Notre Dame’ 2018 slate includes four top-10 matchups, including the season opener against National Runner-up Boston College at noon on Feb. 10 at the Loftus Sports Center. The Irish will face eight ranked opponents with six of those matchups coming at home.
Notre Dame will host USC (No. 8), and Elon (No. 21) along with Syracuse, Virginia and Duke. The Irish will face Northwestern (No. 11) along with North Carolina on the road.
The Irish open their 2018 regular season versus Boston College at Noon ET on Feb. 10 at Loftus Sports Center.
Matt Paras, athletics communications assistant director at the University of Notre Dame, has been part of the Fighting Irish athletics communications team since January 2018. In his role, he coordinates all media efforts for the Notre Dame women’s lacrosse and cross country/track & field programs. A native of Warwick, Rhode Island, Paras is a graduate of the University of Louisville where he completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Sport Administration. Prior to arriving at Notre Dame, he worked at Vanderbilt University as the sports information contact for the women’s soccer and lacrosse programs.
