Crysti Foote scored four goals to help lead Notre Dame to a 13-6 win at Ohio State.  Her four goals give her 132 for her career, making her Notre Dame's all-time leading goal scorer.

Irish Ranked 16th In Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches (IWLCA)

Notre Dame, Ind. – The 2006 women’s lacrosse season begins at the end of February and Notre Dame has been ranked 18th in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) preseason poll.

The Irish, coming off a 3-12 season in 2005, received 37 points in the coaches’ voting and are tied with Cornell for 18th in the nation. In December, the women’s lacrosse team was picked 17th in Lacrosse Magazine’s preseason poll.

As usual, the Irish will face an impressive schedule in 2006 as they will face eight teams that are ranked by the coaches association in the preseason poll. Topping the list is defending national champion, Northwestern. The Wildcats will start the season ranked first overall. They are followed by Duke (2nd) Georgetown (10th), Syracuse (13th), Loyola (14th), Vanderbilt (15th), James Madison (17th) and Cornell (t18th). Northwestern received 12 of 15 first-place votes with Duke getting the other three.

Notre Dame, a member of the highly competitive BIG EAST, joins Georgetown, Syracuse, and newest member, Loyola (Md.) as conference teams ranked in the preseason poll.

The Irish open the 2006 season on the road, Fri., Feb. 24 when they face the University of California in Berkeley, Calif., in a 3:30 p.m. (PST) contest. On Sun., Feb. 26, Notre Dame visits Stanford in a 12:00 noon (PST) contest. The Irish open the home schedule on Thur., March 2 at 4:30 p.m. when they play host to the Ohio University Bobcats at the Loftus Center in a 4:30 p.m. game.
