Irish Place Third at Clemson Invitational

SALEM, S.C. – In the final tune-up before the ACC Championships, the University of Notre Dame men’s golf team placed in third at the Clemson Invitational with an 872 (+8), four strokes behind No. 15 Clemson (+4) and six behind the title winner Boston College (+2).

Both Davis Lamb and Miguel Delgado earned top-10 finishes in the tournament at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls Golf Course. Lamb tied for seventh with a 218 (+2) while Delgado followed right behind in a tie for 9th with a 219 (+3).

The Irish earned their third top-3 finish this year and first this spring. Meanwhile, Lamb led Notre Dame for the second time this season, and Delgado recorded his first top-10 showing this spring and third this year.

“I saw a team today that is ready to compete at the ACC Championship,” Notre Dame head coach John Handrigan stated. “We played well this week and it showed with another top-3 finish. Excited for next week w how well this team is playing.”

FINAL ROUND
Delgado and John Felitto tallied the lowest scores on the day for Notre Dame, each carding a 74 (+2). Delgado notched three birdies on the back-nine where he finished one-under par. Felitto also excelled on the back-half where he carded an even-par.

Speaking of Felitto, who jumped 24 spots from the first to second round on Friday, the sophomore climbed two more spots on Saturday to finish in a tie for 11th place with a 220 (+4).

Ben Albin, who shot an 81 on Saturday, finished tied for 22nd with a 224 (+8). Davis Chatfield came in 31st place with a 227 (+11), carding a 78 in the final round.

Finally, individual competitor Kevin Conners recorded a 226 (+10), with a 78 in the final round as well.

UP NEXT
The Irish will have their eyes set on the ACC Championships, which take place April 20-22 in New London, North Carolina, at the Old North State Club.
