Irish Open Season With First Official Practice on Saturday, Sept. 30 At 9:00 A.M.

Notre Dame, Ind. – The 2006-07 Notre Dame hockey team officially opens the season on Sat., Sept. 30, the first common practice day for the NCAA, with practices at 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Joyce Center. Coach Jeff Jackson’s team begins preparation for the new season that will see them appear on television 10 times during `06-’07.

The Irish are scheduled to appear on Comcast Local five times (three home games and two away), three times on College Sports Television (CSTV) and one time each on ESPNU and Fox SportsNet Detroit.

Notre Dame’s television schedule begins on the road in the CCHA opener for the Irish on Fri., Nov. 3, when they travel to Columbus, Ohio to face the Ohio State Buckeyes in an 8:05 p.m. start. That game will be carried nationally by CSTV.

The Irish will then spend the weekend of Nov. 17-18 on television when they play a home-and-home series with Michigan State. On Fri., Nov. 17, the Irish host the Spartans in an 8:05 p.m. game that will be carried nationally by CSTV. In the Saturday game at Munn Arena in East Lansing, Mich., Comcast Local will carry the action beginning at 7:05 p.m.

In December, Notre Dame will see TV action three times. The Irish opens the FSN Detroit schedule on Fri., Dec. 8 when they travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., for a 7:35 p.m. game against the Michigan Wolverines. Two days later, Sun., Dec. 10, ESPNU will carry a 3:05 p.m. return engagement with Michigan to a national audience, live from the Joyce Center.

Notre Dame then closes out December with its final CSTV appearance on Sat., Dec. 30 when the Irish host Northern Michigan in a 1:05 p.m. game that will be played at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Ft. Wayne, Ind.

The final four telecasts featuring Notre Dame will all come on Comcast Local with two in January and two in February. On Jan. 20, the Irish travel to Kalamazoo, Mich., to face the Western Michigan Broncos. That game begins at 7:35 p.m. on Comcast Local. Six days later, Fri., Jan. 26, Notre Dame plays host to Miami (OH) in a 7:35 p.m. game on Comcast Local.

Fox Sports Net Detroit will also televise four CCHA postseason games. On Friday, March 10, one of four second-round playoff games will be seen live, followed by the two semifinal games from Joe Louis Arena on Fri., March 16 and the CCHA championship game on Sat., March 17.

Viewers should check their local cable or satellite systems for channels and locations of each telecast during the season.
