— The two newest members of the Hockey East Association meet for the third and fourth times, respectively, this weekend as the Fighting Irish travel east for a pair of games against the Connecticut Huskies.
— Game one of the weekend series will be played Saturday afternoon at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn., while game two will be part of a hockey triple header at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
— Sunday’s other college hockey game at the Barclays Center will feature Army vs. Bentley (11:15 a.m.), while the New York Islanders play host to the Buffalo Sabres at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday night.

— The Irish will open Hockey East play this weekend against UConn, while the Huskies are already 1-1-0 in league play.
— Notre Dame is 1-1-0 in its previous two Hockey East openers, including a 2-1 loss at Vermont on Nov. 1, 2013 and a 3-2 home win over the Catamounts on Oct. 31, 2014.

— Notre Dame finished 12-for-12 on the penalty kill versus Minnesota Duluth last weekend (Oct. 23-24) and will look to carry that momentum to Hartford.
— Junior defenseman Justin Wade added a shorthanded tally against the Bulldogs in Notre Dame’s 3-3 tie on Oct. 23, marking his second career goal.
— Connecticut used a hot power play en route to a 5-2 midweek win over No. 7/8 Boston University (Oct. 27), clicking at a 4-for-7 rate, including three power-play goals by freshman forward Tage Thompson.

— Former Notre Dame forward Anders Lee plays his home games at the Barclays Center as a member of the New York Islanders. — In nine games with the Islanders (6-2-1, 2nd in the Metropolitan Division) this season, Lee has two goals and three assists for five points. — In 109 career games with New York, Lee has totaled 37 goals and 25 assists for 62 points.

— Notre Dame will be hoping that Sunday afternoon’s game will be the first of several appearances in NHL arenas this season, with the later stages of the Hockey East and NCAA Tournaments slated to take place at the TD Garden (Boston Bruins) and the Amalie Arena (Tampa bay Lightning).
— Notre Dame last played in a NHL Arena during the 2013-14 season when it lost in overtime, 4-3, to St. Cloud State in the opening round of the NCAA Championship at the XCel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota (home of the Minnesota Wild).

— The Notre Dame power play is 4-for-15 (.267) on the young season, including at least one power-play goal in each of the last three games.
— The Irish netted a power-play goal in each 3-3 tie against Minnesota Duluth last weekend (Oct. 23-24) as well as two power-play goals in the 5-3 loss at Penn State (Oct. 17).
Dylan Malmquist, Thomas DiPauli, Mario Lucia and Sam Herr have combined for the four Notre Dame power-play goals.
— Heading into the weekend, Notre Dame’s power play ranks ninth in the nation and second in Hockey East.
