NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Following one of the most successful seasons in program history, a number of Irish players are off for their Summer Ball assignments. In total 20 players will be playing in a number of leagues across the country this summer.
The Irish are well represented in the Cape Cod League as five players will be spending their summer on the Cape. Carter Putz, Zack Prajzner, Alex Rao and Liam Simon will be playing for the Harwich Mariners while Jack Brannigan is playing for the Wareham Gatemen. The Cape Cod season is set to begin on Sunday, June 20.
Brooks Coetzee and TJ Williams are making the short trip up to Kalamazoo and will be playing with the Growlers this summer in the Northwoods League. Nick Juaire will also be playing in the Northwoods League with the Minnesota Mud Puppies.
The Bethesda Big Train might have to be renamed the Irish East as four Irish players are playing with them this summer. Danny Neri, Ryan Lynch, Brady Gumpf and Matt Bedford are all suiting up for the Big Train in the Cal Ripken Collegiate League.
A few more Irish are heading east to play ball this summer. Brock Murtha is playing with the Bristol Blues in the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Will Mercer and Jackson Dennies will continue to be teammates this summer when they play for the Harrisonburg Turks in the Valley Baseball League.
Tony Watson is down in the Florida Collegiate Summer League with the Sanford River Rats. Jack Zyska and Kyle Hess are playing with the Forest City Owls in the Coastal Plain League. Tony Lindwedel is playing for the Shredded Cheese in the Carshield Collegiate League. Casey Kmet is suiting up for the Northwest Indiana Oilmen in the Midwest Collegiate League.
