Irish Men's Soccer Adds Maurice Williams For 2022 Season

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – University of Notre Dame McFarland Family Head Men’s Soccer Coach Chad Riley announced the addition of graduate transfer Maurice Williams to the 2022 squad. Williams is a defender that spent the previous two seasons playing at Seton Hall.

“We are thrilled to add Mo to our team,” said Riley. “He is obviously an outstanding competitor on the field, but after getting to know him, we are even more excited about him as a person. He is a mature and driven person and I know he will be a great addition to our team this fall.”

Williams comes to Notre Dame from Seton Hall, racking up 27 starts and playing in 32 matches as a center back for the Pirates. The 6-2 defender totaled four goals and three assists over his two seasons in Seton Hall. Williams helped lead the Pirates to the 2020 Big East Championship title and was named the Big East Tournament’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player.

Prior to his two years at Seton Hall, Williams began his collegiate career at Cincinnati. After not playing as a freshman during the 2018 campaign he started 15 matches and earned American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team status.

Williams graduated from West Orange High School and earnedSuper Essex Conference (SEC) Player of the Year and Soccer Coaches Association of New Jersey (SCANJ) First Team All-State selection in 2017.
