Irish Men's Lacrosse Unveils 2022 Schedule

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s lacrosse program and Baumer Family Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Kevin Corrigan released the 2022 schedule, a 12-game slate that features seven games at Arlotta Stadium and Loftus Sports Center.

“This is the most challenging schedule in the country – and includes the best home schedule we’ve ever had,” said Corrigan. “Our guys look forward to competing every week against the best teams, and this schedule gives them that opportunity.”

The Irish enter the season ranked in the top 10 again, earning the No. 5 ranking from the US Lacrosse Magazine preseason poll.

The Irish have reached 15 consecutive NCAA Championships and have played in 10 of the last 11 quarterfinals entering the 2022 season. Notre Dame is set to return eight of its top nine point earners from last season and one of its three starting defensemen and goalie.

TOUGHEST SCHEDULE IN THE COUNTRY

Notre Dame always challenges itself by playing one of the toughest schedules in the country and the 2022 slate will be no different. Of Notre Dame’s 12 regular-season opponents, eight are in the top 15 of Inside Lacrosse’s preseason rankings. The Irish are set to face six opponents ranked in the top 10 of the poll, including five matchups against teams in the top five. Notre Dame will square off against No. 1 Virginia, No. 2 Maryland, No. 3 Duke (2x), No. 4 Georgetown, No. 6 North Carolina and No. 14 Syracuse (2x).

LOADED HOME SLATE

Five of seven home games of the regular-season schedule are against teams ranked in the preseason poll. The Irish welcome No. 3 Georgetown (Feb. 28) and No. 2 Maryland (March 5) in back-to-back non-conference showdowns early in the spring. The other highly touted teams to visit Notre Dame are No. 14 Syracuse (April 2), No. 6 North Carolina (April 21) and No. 3 Duke in the regular-season home finale (May 7).

B1G NON-CONFERENCE BATTLES

Three of Notre Dame’s six non-conference games will be played against teams from the Big Ten. The Irish will play both Maryland (March 5) and Michigan (March 19) at Arlotta Stadium. Notre Dame will make the trip to Columbus to take on Ohio State (March 12) as part of its non-conference schedule.

ACC SLATE

The Irish open conference play with Virginia in the only meeting between the two sides on March 26 at Klöckner Stadium in Charlottesville. Notre Dame then returns to Arlotta Stadium to open up the home portion of ACC play against Syracuse (April 2) before hitting the road to take on Duke (April 9) at Koskinen Stadium in a primetime matchup.

The Irish then close conference play with two of their final three contests at home, hosting North Carolina (April 21) in a premier Thursday showcase. The final regular-season road game is at Syracuse (May 1) in the Carrier Dome. Notre Dame then wraps up the regular season with a home finale against Duke (May 7).
