Irish Men Send Four More to NCAA Championships

BLOOMINGTON, IN. – On the third day of the 2022 NCAA Track and Field East Regional, the Irish had four athletes qualify for the national championship in Eugene, Oregon.

The first Notre Dame runner to earn his qualifier was Tom Seitzer in the 3000 meter steeplechase. He crossed the finish line at 8:42.16 earning an automatic qualifying bid to the national meet and tallying a personal best.

Sam Voelz and Tim Zepf earned the automatic qualifiers for the Irish in the men’s 800 meter run. Voelz ran for a time of 1:48.51 and Zepf crossed the finish line at 1:47.94. Both will move on to run in Eugene at the national meet. Bashir Mosavel-Lo just missed qualifying with a time of 1:49.54.

Max Frye represented the Irish in the 400 meter hurdles and crossed the finish line at 51.57. He just misses qualifying for nationals.

Dylan Jacobs led the pack in the 5000 meter race winning overall and setting a facility record with a time of 13:38.05. Jacobs earned the automatic qualifying bid for the race and will represent the Irish in Eugene.

Matthew Carmody, Joshua Methner, and Andrew Alexander also ran in the 5000 meter race. Carmody finished at 14:00.88, Methner ran for a time of 14:14.91, and Alexander crossed the finish line at 14:15.81.

The next outing for the Irish will be at the 2022 NCAA Track and Field National Championships held in Eugene, Oregon from June 8-11.
