Irish Men's Tennis Set For Two Matches This Weekend

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The 25th-ranked Irish men’s tennis team plays host to No. 13 Texas A&M Friday night before traveling to Madison, Wis. to take on the Badgers on Sunday afternoon.

Friday night’s match versus Texas A&M will take place at the Eck Tennis Pavilion, with play scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. The Aggies enter the match with a 3-2 record. Most recently they defeated TCU, 4-3, on February 18. They have also earned wins over NC State and Radford this season, while sustaining defeats versus Florida and Texas.

The Irish will then play at Wisconsin on Sunday, March 1, with the match scheduled to start at noon. Wisconsin, currently 39th in the ITA rankings, carries a 7-2 mark into the weekend. Before taking on the Irish, the Badgers will host N.C. State on Friday at their Nielsen Tennis Stadium. Most recently Wisconsin knocked-off Wake Forest on February 22 by a 4-3 margin.

NOTES: The Irish enter the weekend with a 6-6 record … Texas A&M is the seventh top-20 team the Irish will face in their first 13 matches … Stephen Havens and Casey Watt are the only two Irish players to record singles decisions in all 12 dual matches thus far … Notre Dame’s match on Friday night will be part of a double header at the Eck, as the fifth-ranked Irish women’s team plays host to No. 12 North Carolina at 3:00 p.m.
