2005 NOTRE DAME WOMEN’S SOCCER – BIG EAST Semifinal at Marquette (Nov. 4., 5:00 CST … live on CSTV)

The 5th-ranked Notre Dame women’s soccer team (18-2-0, 10-1-0 BIG EAST) will look to capture its eighth BIG EAST Tournament title – but first since 2001 – in action this weekend at Marquette’s Valley Fields … ND and Marquete (17-2-1) will meet in the second semifinal (5:00 CST) on Friday, Nov. 4, following the 2:30 UConn-West Virginia matchup (both games will be telecast live on CSTV) … Sunday’s championship game (11:00 a.m. CST) will be telecast by various BIG EAST affiliates … the Irish are riding an eight-game win streak and 30-game scoring streak, with 87 total goals while allowing just 76 opponent shots (35 on goal) … the final regular-season game saw ND three goals in a 51-second span vs. Georgetown (quickest 3G stretch in ND history) … ND’s 10-0-0 home mark this season includes a 48-3 scoring edge, just 29 opponent shots and only 11 opp. shots on goal (1.1/gm) … the current win streak includes a 38-1 goalscoring margin (with a 571-minute shutout streak that ended vs. GU) … the Irish lead the nation in scoring with 4.58 goals/gm, paced by the nation’s top scoring tandem of senior Katie Thorlakson (15G-26A; 56 pts) and freshman Kerri Hanks (22G-13A; 57 pts) – with sophomore F/M Amanda Cinalli (6G-14A) ranking 7th nationally in assists (the three ND forwards have combined for 139 pts) … Hanks and Thorlakson are the nation’s first 50-point teammates since 2000 … ND also leads the nation with a +4.1 avg. scoring margin (87-10/+77, in 19 GP) and is 14th with a 0.53 GAA … the DePaul game (Sept. 16) was the 400th in the 18-year history of ND women’s soccer (the Irish have won 84% of their all-time games, at 336-59-17).
