Irish Look to Tame Unbeaten Tigers

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 8 University of Notre Dame women’s lacrosse team is headed east for a three-game road swing that begins with a top-10 matchup versus No. 9 Princeton on Saturday. The Irish (8-1) and the Tigers (4-0) will play at 1 p.m. ET at Sherrerd Field at Class of 52 Stadium (Princeton, N.J.).

The Irish head into their third game against a top-10 opponent, while the undefeated Tigers will face a ranked opponent for the first time this season.

History Vs. Princeton

Notre Dame has gone 1-1 in two matchups against the Tigers. The Irish are 0-1 on the road against Princeton after falling, 5-11, in the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2002.

Notre Dame and Princeton last played on March 13, 2016, when the Irish defeated then-ranked No. 7 Princeton, 16-11.

Winning Streak Info

Notre Dame’s eight-game winning streak is tied for the third-longest in program history and marks the longest such streak since the team opened the 2013 season with a 10-0 record. The streak is currently the longest active winning streak in the ACC

The Irish have had two winning streaks of exactly 10 games – occurring in 2004 and 2013 – and one streak of exactly eight games in 2012.

Player of the Week Honors

Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Giacolone was named Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Giacolone collected nine saves and two ground balls in Notre Dame’s 9-7 victory over then-ranked No. 20 Louisville on Saturday. The seven goals marked a season low for the Cardinals.

In nine games this season, Giacolone owns 67 saves, an 8.70 GAA and a .469 save percentage.
