Irish Look To Get Back On Winning Track Versus Davidson

April 21, 2003

Notre Dame, Ind. – Notre Dame women’s lacrosse team will look to snap its three-game losing streak on Tuesday, April 22 when the Irish play host to the Davidson Wildcats at Moose Krause Stadium. Game time is 4:00 p.m.

The Irish come into the game with a 4-7 overall record after two heartbreaking overtime losses in their last two contests. The Irish lost to fifth-ranked Georgetown last Saturday, 16-15 in overtime. Prior to that, the Irish lost 14-13 in double overtime to 16th-ranked Stanford. All seven of Notre Dame’s losses have come to nationally ranked teams.

Davidson faces the Irish after dropping a 14-4 decision to Northwestern on Monday afternoon in Evanston, Ill. The Wildcats of Davidson are 1-13 on the season.

In the Irish loss to Georgetown, Notre Dame led 13-10 with 2:41 left to play. Georgetown scored three times to tie the game at 13-13 and then scored three free-position goals in overtime to take a 16-13 lead. The Irish scored twice in the final 1:30, but that was as close as they would get.

Following the game with Davidson, the Irish host two more home games this week when they play Northwestern on Saturday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m. The following day, Sunday, April 27, Notre Dame closes out its BIG EAST schedule with a 1:00 p.m. game versus the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The Irish are currently in third place in the BIG EAST with a 3-2 league record.
