Irish In Third Place After First Round Of Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 19 Notre Dame women’s golf team carded a 14-over par 298 during the first round of the Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate at the par-71, 5,963 North River Golf Club on Friday. The Fighting Irish reside in third place, three shots off the pace established by No. 6 Arkansas. Freshman So-Hyun Park (Seoul, South Korea/Bradenton Prep (FL)) shot the top Irish round with a two-over par 73.

Park is tied for 10th among a field of 96 golfers and five shots away from the leader, Arkansas’ Stacy Lewis, who carded a three-under par 68. Stefanie Kenoyer from Furman is second with a 69, while Cindy LaCrosse from Louisville posted a 70 and is in third.

Louisville is in second place among the 18-team field that features five top-25 teams in the latest Golfstat rankings. The Cardinals fired a 13-over par 297. Joining the Irish in the top five is Furman with a 299 and South Carolina with a 300.

Three Irish golfers are all among a 12-way tie for 19th after posting identical rounds of 75. Junior Lisa Maunu (St. Thomas, Ontario/Parkside Collegiate Institute) and sophomores Annie Brophy (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) and Kristin Wetzel (Middletown, N.Y./Hilton Head Prep (SC)) all stand at four-over par. Rounding out the Notre Dame lineup is freshman Katie Conway (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River), who registered a six-over par 77 on the day. Conway is in a 12-way tie for 36th.

Saturday’s second round of the Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate will get underway with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m. (CT). Final-round action is scheduled to commence with an 8:40 a.m. (CT) shotgun start on Sunday.
