NOTRE DAME, Ind. -Courtney and Kelley Hurley will be back in action on Thursday as the women’s epee team competition gets underway beginning at 8:00 a.m.
The United States will open with a quarterfinal showdown versus Romania. Joining Courtney and Kelley Hurley to round out Team USA will be Katharine Holmes.
At the 2012 London Games, Courtney and Kelley were part of Team USA’s bronze-medal winning team, which made history as the first U.S. women’s epee team to earn an Olympic medal.
All told, Courtney and Kelley have combined for seven All-America citations, five Olympic Games appearances, three individual NCAA Championships and two Olympic bronze medals.

–Natalie Achonwa and Team Canada improved to 3-0 in Group B play in the women’s basketball draw with a 68-58 win over Senegal.
–Lee Kiefer posted a 15-3 Round of 32 win over Lebanon’s Mona Shaito before falling to Liu Yongshi of China, 15-9, in the Round of 16.
— Assistant coach Angie Akers and the Netherlands beach volleyball team of Marlene van Iersel and Madelein Meppelink dropped a 2-1 decision to Australia’s Taliqua Clancy and Louise Bawden.
— Men’s basketball assistant coach Monty Williams and Team USA moved to 3-0 in Group A play with a 98-88 win over Australia.

— Sisters Courtney Hurley and Kelley Hurley return to action in the women’s epee team event. The tournament kicks off at 8:00 a.m. with the Round of 16 (online streaming), followed by the quarterfinals (9:30 a.m., NBCSN), semifinal (1:30 p.m., online streaming) and the medal round (5:00 p.m., CNBC).
— Angie Akers and the Netherlands beach volleyball team of Jantine van der Vlist and Sophie van Gestel square off against Switzerland’s Joana Heidrich and Nadine Zumkehr in a preliminary match in Group E at 5:30 p.m. (online streaming).
Tomorrow | August 12
— Gerek Meinhardt will return to action with Team USA’s men’s foil squad. The Round of 16 gets underway at 8:00 a.m. (online streaming), followed by the quarterfinals at 9:00 a.m. (online streaming), the semifinals at 12:15 p.m. (online streaming) and the medal round at 5:00 p.m. (online streaming).
— After sweeping the 5,000 and 10,000 races at the 2016 U.S. Trials, Molly Huddle will run the 10,000 at 8:30 a.m. (NBCSN & online streaming coverage).
— Natalie Achonwa and the Canadian women’s basketball team take on the USA at 2:30 p.m. (NBCSN).
— Assistant coach Angie Akers and her Netherlands squad could have a Round of 16 match (results pending/schedule TBA).
— After a perfect 3-0 record in pool play to win Group F, Melissa Tancredi and the Canadian women’s soccer team will take on France in the quarterfinals at 9:00 p.m. (NBC Sports Live Extra).
