Dec. 30, 2005

The University of Notre Dame football team wrapped up a majority of its media requirements on Friday, Dec. 30, at Media Day for the 2006 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. The Irish spent 45 minutes in Sun Devil Stadium with the media members assigned to cover this year’s matchup between Notre Dame and Ohio State.

The team held another practice on Friday afternoon, fine tuning its preparations for Ohio State. The workout began at 3:15 p.m. and provided the team a chance to see the sunlight conditions they will face at kickoff on Monday (3:00 p.m. local time). Close to the end of the workout, the team moved to Scottsdale Community College’s main field to practice under the lights and experience the elements the receivers (particularly the kick receivers) will see during the early-evening hours on Monday.

With media requirements and practice wrapping up (the Irish will hold a one-hour workout closed to the media on Saturday), there will be no updated information about the football team on Saturday, Dec. 31. Happy New Year from the entire Notre Dame Sports Information Staff! Keep an eye out on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, for a recap of Coach Weis’ final press conference before kickoff on Monday.
