Irish Host Hoosiers & Raiders For DH

NOTRE DAME, Indiana — The Notre Dame women’s tennis program returns to action with a doubleheader at the Eck Tennis Pavilion on Sunday, Feb. 18. The Irish take on Indiana at 10 a.m. and Wright State at 2 p.m.

On The Fighting Irish

Notre Dame (2-2) returns to action following a 4-1 loss at Louisville on Feb. 9. The Irish played once last weekend after losing to the Cardinals, with a Feb. 11 match against Illinois cancelled due to weather. The Irish are looking to improve on a 2-0 mark at home this year.

On the dual season, Rachel Chong and Cameron Corse own 3-1 records at singles, while Brooke Broda and Allison Miller are both 2-1. Corse and Zoe Spence boast a 3-1 doubles record at the number two spot during the spring.

On The Hoosiers

Indiana (8-1) is playing away from home for the first time on the spring. The Hoosiers won their first eight matches, but are coming off a 4-3 setback to Tennessee on Feb. 11.

Madison Appel owns a 7-0 record at one singles, followed by Caitlin Bernard at 5-0 at number two. IU has juggled the lineup at 3-6 singles, with the top mark amongst that group a 4-1 record from Jelly Bozovic playing at five singles. Natalie Whalen and Olga Zavarotnaya are 4-1 on the dual season at one singles, while Appel and Michelle McKamey are 4-1 at two and Bernard and Bozovic are 5-0 at three.

Notre Dame leads the all-time series with Indiana, 19-11, including a 19-8 mark under Irish head coach Jay Louderback.

On The Raiders

Wright State enters the weekend at 3-5, hosting a doubleheader with Toledo and Murray State on Saturday, Feb. 17, before traveling to Notre Dame.

Karoline Haller has played at one doubles in all eight matches in 2018, posting a 3-5 mark, with Haily Morgan 4-4 at two singles. At doubles, Haller and Morgan are 2-2 at one singles, while Luisa Pelayo and Grace Whitney own WSU’s best doubles record with a 2-1 mark at two.

It will be just the second meeting between Notre Dame and Wright State, with the Irish having swept the Raiders, 7-0, a season ago.

Up Next

The Irish return to action next weekend with another Eck Tennis Pavilion doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 24. Notre Dame plays its second ACC match of the year against Pitt at 10 a.m., followed by a contest with Bowling Green at 3 p.m.
